P-53 USMC Shirt Jacket

P-53 USMC Shirt Jacket

Not-So-Standard Issue.

Military surplus store in working-class Boston. WWII stock stacked under crackling fluorescent lights. Amazing prices.

“Good luck, kid,” says the patch-eyed gent who sells me this USMC jacket. It’s 67 years later now, and the original jacket has been retired from active duty.

So has the breed of store that sold it.

Fortunately, I have a small company here that can reproduce such gear.

P-53 USMC Shirt Jacket (No. 6722). Performs double duty as a shirt or a light jacket. Good on nippy, breezy days, or layer as required. Distinctive, with a sense of purpose.

Details: 8 ½ oz. herringbone twill cloth (HBT, which outperformed wool in hot weather during fatigue duties). Garment dyed and washed for authentic look and feel. Note the broken-in hand feel. Distinctive WW II reproduction metal 13-star shanks (13 representing original 13 US colonies). Two patch pockets with V-cut flaps. Inner map compartment behind the left side patch pocket. Covered three-button front closure and button cuffed sleeves. Not recommended for Travis Bickle types. Imported.
