The Correspondent's Jacket

The Correspondent's Jacket

The Correspondent's Jacket.

During World War II, the U.S. armed forces accredited 127 women correspondents. A privilege that was hard-won.Ā  Accreditation got her into war zones. Provided food and shelter and a means of sending dispatches back to the home office. She carried a Basic Field Manual of press accreditation rules, which included a waiver of liability for injury or death.

In another pocket, a green accreditation card.

That's just the paperwork.Ā

She'd need notebooks, pens. Female charm in some measure to open doors that were often closed to women. A typewriter.Ā

A jacket like this would come in handy, too.Ā

Its main mission was function, so it's a lucky convergence that what's functional is also timeless and stylish.Ā

They didn't cover that in the "Basic Field Manual," but it's no small consideration.Ā

The Correspondents Jacket (No. 7267). Inspired by female reporters at the front lines in WWII. Garment dyed 100% cotton. Black faux shell buttons. Four box pleat pockets on front. Band collar. Back vent. Imported.
