While La Rive Gauche may not be what it used to, there are still some nooks and crannies of the old guard. Where a few people speak Latin the way the university students did in the ā20s.
She was of that ilk.
Hers was a small gallery. The kind of place where pieces pop up that were reported stolen (in 1650). She showed me various oils painted by peasants. Dark and primal pieces by artists were not commissioned and had zero notoriety.
The work endures.
She had an edge to her as well. Intimidating yet elegant. Knowledgeable. Beautiful.

Mandarin Collar Coat (No. 6532). Long-line fitted coat in ultrafine, luxurious 100% wool twill from the Tollegno Mill in Italy. Faux horn buttons. Medium-weight wool with hidden side-seam pockets. Contrast cotton piping at collar and down center front. Light, comfortable, classic, elegant overcoat. Imported.
