Annapolis Shirt
I think the 50th anniversary of D-Day sparked it.
Veterans around the country got up from the 6:30 news to rummage through closets and battered trunks, emerging with wonderful WWII gear, a lot of which they forwarded to us: āCan you do something with this?ā
In the years since, weāve offered quite a few reproductions of the items in which they trained, fought, grumbled, flirted with Red Cross doughnut girls, and, when you come down to it, saved the world.
Iām pleased to reissue a personal favorite.
Annapolis Shirt (No. 1255), one of the advantages budding Navy officers had during WWII (along with shortened courses of study and faster promotion).
Substantial, very finely-twilled wool. Three-and-one-half-inch long button-down collar points. Button-through flapped pocket, button cuffs, two-ply yoke. The navy buttons have the same intaglio anchor design as the original.
Handsome. And authentic.Ā
